Rainy days

We woke up to MORE RAIN!

We made some coffee and toast, watched THREE episodes of LIFE (dvr'd so we got to fast forward through commercials).

This series is amazing! Captivated even liv! Our favourite stories were the tree frog carrying it's tadpoles to safety and the giant octopus laying 100,000 eggs!

While liv was napping I was presented with this-

An invitation special delivery

It was to inform me that the unicorn club meeting was about to start. It also says "lunch provided. Sign in before entering. Wipe shoes before entering too"

When I got to the club, my lunch was given to me. Ira said "its arugula and celery. I left the white part on the celery, hope that's ok".

Then I had to sign in

I'm sitting here all alone though. The other unicorn members are still outside.... They are LATE!

Open house. Stressful!

Our open house was today from 1-4. We had showings at 11, 12, 1 and 4:15.

No one showed up to the open house because the signs got knocked down, maybe a potential buyer hoping to thwart competition? Lol.

So we had to kill time.

And emers did not want to be in the car. Except for when he slept- then we didn't want to wake him.

There were
Roadside wildflower picking

Boredom

More boredom

We read Library books in our neighbours backyard.
The girls played with our neighbours who rock at expending large amounts of energy with the girls.

Went to starbucks & target.

Ira put together some puzzles.

Now we are vegging out.

Saturday.... In the park...

Oh what a day! I cut iras HAIR!
She cut a small piece off and I evened it out. It looks great. It was all the baby fine hair that got cut though, so it was a little bitter sweet.
There was clock crafting...

Some time spent looking up & researching Astroids and astroids belts!

Some drawing, dancing, trader joes, cranky mama needing food.....

We made candied pecans from scratch- they were lovely.
Emers rolls over!!!!!

We went down to the university to run in the grass and look at the stars. There was an even goin on so we also got live music.

It was dark and I only had my iPhone so I didn't capture much....

We went to flandrau to look through their huge public telescope!

Amazing! We also got our own private lecture from an awesome volunteer organizer/docent. It was awesome! He taught us all about orions nebulae and showed ira orions belt. We told him she was into astroids and Jupiter and he talked to her a bit about that.

Then we went inside andwere able to listen another very informative bit about the nebulae and then got to look through the telescope.

We didn't get to see Saturn because liv was falling asleep and it was getting crowded.

I want to say, the guys operating the telescope were SO great with our kids. They took time out to address them individually. Then, when ira couldn't see through the telescope, even though there was a long line, he stopped and helped her and let her take her time.

There were also two Russian visitors that when we walked in, jumped up, gave us their seats and asked our children to go in front of them. We were all so shocked.

That never happens to us here.

I've mentioned it to Jared before, no one ever offers their seats to women and children. Which is weird to me, because in the Midwest, people either jump up or say to the people sitting "get up and give the lady your seat" and I spent my youth saying "no, it's alright but thank you anyway!"

I'm excited to show the kids a bit more friendly area of the country!

Ok, end my rant!

Poor picture of our walk there!

Friday

Drawing

County fair! Joy!

The cotton candy guy said "tell me when to stop!" so when it looked like enough Ira said "stop!"
But he kept making more bc you pay for q certain amount.... Ira looked at Jared and said
"I REALLY think that's enough!!!!"

We ended up throwing half of it away. Liv refused to even take a bite.

We aren't the biggest sugar eaters.
Elemental artistry fire dancers

Tractors

Insane petting zoo. Tiny. No regulation as to how many people could go in at once. People were cornering animals and it was just a madhouse.

A kangaroo????

Seals. In the desert. Poor seal.

They had sharks and sting rays and seals in TINY tanks. It smelled SO bad of chlorine. It was disgusting and Jared and I were wishing we would never have gone. :(
There were elephants and they looked so sad. There were a million over priced food vendors and the food was not good.:(

We are not a circus family. I thought there would be more games and small rides like fairs when I was young.

Ira and liv enjoyed themselves though. They didn't know any better.

Wednesday

Heart shaped vegan dye free Jel-desert! It was actually REALLY good!

Out back, our mesquite tree is filling out an creating an abundance of shade-

Ira worked/played with a packet I printed up on the Arizona state museum's website. It's a companion for The paths of life exhibit we just saw.
Here Ira is making her own mask.

This is the wall of masks that Ira loved

We had planned a BBQ with our friends... So we spent a good portion of the day in the kitchen-
Made grass fed carne asada, roasted asparagus, a hide arugula & spinach salad with blue cheese, cranberries, candied walnuts from scratch..

And a honey mustard dressing I made with mayo, coarse ground Dijon, yellow mustard, & raw honey. It was so good.

We forgot limes at the store, so we used lemons. I also made lemon ice. We picked a paper gorcery bag full of lemons and had to hand squeeze them all because I couldn't find the citrus juicer!

It was worth it.
