Durango, CO

The surrounding mountains were just amazing! Liv slept in the car, but Ira was just amazed at everything along the way! Especially the snow still on the mountains. We talked a lot about elevation/ altitude.

Durango itself was pretty tourist oriented. Finding the realness in the city was not easy. We stayed in what is probably considered a 'not so nice' part of town... People were nice, but it really just looked like anywheretown, USA to me.

Then, walking amongst the high end shops and tourist trap shops felt fake. Wasn't the best experience.

Save your money! Go to pagosa springs! That was some great small town charm, people were talkative, open, real....(and it's cheaper there- wish we had known)

The girls were gravitating to this blue door- we stopped there for lunch- it was a locally owned 'relaxed, funky taqueria' and the menu was pretty much chipotle :)
It was delicious, and the decor was adorable! Especially the patio- with it's multilevel wooden decks and stairways with glass lightbulb strands hung- I bet it's a very charming place at night.

Farewell friends

We had to say goodbye to Longmont and our friends today to mosey on back to Tucson for a wedding! How blessed are we?! All celebration these days!

We went to the Caffe Luna and the park. Ira ran through some sprinklers...

We found some mushrooms growing under a pine tree...

Liv tearing out the the contents of my bag as we all laid in some shade. She never rests, always moving and doing something!

Ira made a stick doll...

Then, right as we were leaving, we took a group picture of the girls. Oh how iras tears started.... And never stopped.... For hours. She was so sad to leave her friends.
She even propped the picture with their letter on it up do she could stare at it in the car

Denver peoples fair

The 39th annual peoples fair!
Very fun, although we didn't buy any tickets for food because of the gluten abundance.

A funk band was playing in this shaded grove.

Fort Collins, Colorado

The day started off slow... Lots of movies, drawing, etc....

Then we went to a traditional fish and chips place owned by an Australian guy....

He was very nice and the place was awesome, one room was painted with a under the sea mural with a huge wall of chalkboard.

Ira said no fish... We had to draw outer space and monsters.....

Liv's monster...

My monster...

We walked to get some ice cream and found this tree. It was dedicated to the korean war vets.

The plaque read:
"scion of the Washington oak at cambridge, Mass 1931."

It was a beautiful tree. Good for climbing.... Or at least it looked good for climbing, we didn't actually climb it.
