Ferry Farmers Market

Ira excited to go...

The view...

This city is amazing... Parking far away just means you get to take in more of it... We love it here.

Can you believe I only took one picture?!
All the food was delicious! And relatively cheap...

We tossed some pennies in a fountain...

This bag is 100% compostable! Love. We got it from the grape stand... It's full of organic grapes- $5!!!! We got a late start and didn't make it to the market until noon- the guy was packing up for the day and gave us waaaaay more than we paid for!

We got pickles, plums, peaches, collard greens, arugula, heirloom tomatoes....
Doesn't this bunch scream "make babaganoush!"

Iras new fab snack- figs!
She said she's "in love with figs!"
"obsessed with figs"
Her words.
Her picture;)

We also hand felted some wool reusable coffee cup/hot cocoa cup sleeves...even jared got in on the felting... Then said, "we need a washboard..."
It is tiring and time consuming...

Still trying to get the sizes right... True to my nature, I'm not using a pattern. I'm sure there are a bunch out there. But I apparently like to learn things the long hard way.

Dessert...

We made a raw dessert that was delicious- kind of like an ice cream pie...

Crust was almond meal and raw honey and coconut oil, filling was purée frozen banana with a little cocoa powder.... Then topped with two cans of full fat coconut milk- put in the freezer and then
Mixed in the food processor with vanilla extract and agave syrup.

It's so delicious...

We also made vanilla coconut milk ice cream.....
We haven't tried it yet.....

wow, what a day!

Emers kept me up until 2a.m. and then woke me up at 530a.m.!!!!

i have been walking and bouncing this teething cranky boy all night and day!

its a good thing that I can knit whilst walking and bouncing though- i was able to finish the most labor intensive portion of one of ira's solstice gifts.

it was an easy going day today, I scrapped all our plans and followed the girls' lead.

We went for a couple walks...

the girls bring their new buckets with us everywhere... they have brought home so many leaves and twigs- we really need to get on that craft...
here is liv at the finish line... who is racing you might ask?
team zhu zhu....ira insisted on serving up tea today... she wanted me to relax- but then liv said, "i help too!" and she kept dumping it everywhere.

ira started getting frustrated at how clumsy a two year old is... i am always impressed when she interacts in this way though. She didnt yell at her sister. She said, "liv, you are spilling it, can you wait until I can help you"

i eventually had to step in because liv is determined. but I thought it was a good teaching/learning moment and was proud at them for trying to work it out.

she even frothed my tea- she said, "just like you like your coffee!"

as I scrubbed the hibiscus tea off the kitchen- the girls went off to the play room....
liv set up the barn in the kitchen...
liv set up a castle in the playhouse...

man, I REALLY need to sand and beeswax that play furniture!!!! its so worn and beat up looking! (and drawn on)

we made some chocolate chia seed pudding...

I thought at this point it was for sure almost time for jared to be home! NOPE!

it was only 3!

we got out the play clay- the lemongrass was mine!
liv creating a masterpiece on the whiteboard- mixed media- whiteboard markers and whiteboard crayons! she turned the bag into a puppet too.... note the crayon on her face....then note why I took off her beautiful dress before she can play with whiteboard materials :P

ira set up an excer-tripod... to take the place of a hamster wheel.

the zhu zhus will go around and around and around....
then we had more tea with watermelon....
the girls were upset that it was seedless....
so they added their own with raisins...
liv said she needed her hat and phone to go to dinner...

Breaking in the kitchen...

Today we really started using the kitchen like we used to...

We made almond butter & tahini...

Ira made hemp milk with molasses- with a strawberry on the rim.

Gluten free S'mores....

Mama K's play clay... So so great. Gluten free and scented beautifully.

Geese at the park...

Swinging...
we each had our own swing for a while, then the girls wanted to be pushed higher than they could go.. so jared pushed them- it reminded me of tennis for some reason

ira was not wanting to go- but it was (clearly) getting too dark!

bright moon for not being full...

after some star gazing on the way home- we came home and downloaded a free app.
It shows the constellations in the night sky from where ever you are- and shows a global view- ira loved seeing how it was dark where we were- but not yet dark in alaska....

you can shrink the image as it rotates

or expand it....

the U.S. which incidentally- shone brighter than any other country....

then ira played super why-
