SUNDAY FUNDAY!

ira the scientist....

she was working on some formulas and said, "i need to learn math- i want to be a real scientist" then she said- "mama- get me my math books."

she spent a little over an hour working through her math workbooks.

then decided she wanted to be a cheetah instead-

olive wanted to be a bear...

water color dinner.... they ate while painting.

ira painted mt vesuvius... obviously she is still thinking a lot about the book "Escape From Pompeii"

robots...

we made butterflies out of coffee filters they painted last week. There are so many butterflies around our apartment and the surrounding parks.

we then cut butterfly shapes from paintings we painted last week as well. this one ira cut herself and then strung two together with trash bag twist ties...

she added the change with glue- "to make it much shinier... money is sooo shiny"

we hung it on the blinds....

it was one of the warmest nights we have had since moving here- about 65 degrees- we took a walk to lull this fiercely active one to sleep. she was out after 5 minutes... but we kept walking...

cant really capture this at night- but this tree looked magnificent in the moonlight....

Morning...

The unwrapping of our ikea stuff felt like Christmas morning.

Our old house was BIG for us, and this place is very very small. So its a good thing we sold all our big furniture!

We just got storage last night, and plates, since our old plates were also sold.

Instead of dressers, we got these hanging closet organizers. The closets are huge and we need every available inch of floor space...

After hotel living, I'm in love with having dishes.... Organized...in a cupboard.... That I can wash in the sink OR dishwasher..... Oh the luxurious daydreams of a hausfrau!

The girls entertained themselves by putting away their new dishes....

Its Back!

I decided to pull the coffee table out of the office today. We put it in there when liv started to crawl and then just really enjoyed the great explanse of the living room without it.

Recently, however, the need for a coffee table of sorts has become more and more necessary as my belly is expanding at an alarming rate (21weeks!!!!) and I have a little bit of difficulty trying to color and draw lying on the floor.

Of course, we could always use the craft room.... but the a/c does NOT reach back there as well and my craft table is quite high and the kids are up and down and up and down and for ira thats fine... but that means I am lifting liv up and down and up and down.....plus, the afternoon light is perfect.

so its back... and we are off to enjoy a bit of craft time.....

operation storage revamp.....

was officially a go this weekend.

Its a long journey... jareds mother passed away when he was military and he had to simply box up a lot of stuff to deal with when he could be in town again. Well, we have officially been "in town" for 3 years, but with him finishing up his degree, it was never really the right time. Now that babe #3 is coming, we need more room! So it begins!

the kids had fun, it was so hot.... jared did most of the work while the girls and I sat on a picnic blanket in the shade of the carport and played. Soon enough, we will be able to use the storage rooms for our own storage.

lost and found.....
liv desperately wishing her feet reached the petals......

poor desert child playing in rocks instead of grass ;)

christmas in july? thats what she was thinking......

cave dwellers.....

at least that is what I like to refer to us as ;)

not only is it hot outside... but the sun is intense... and we are pale pale people who burn incredibly easy. So we tend to hibernate inside during the most intense parts of the day.

we have taken to baking daily. We are currently trying to perfect our blueberry muffin recipe. At this point, I am simply the swedish chef adding this and that.. but they are good.

Ira makes all sorts of forts and houses for her hundreds of animals and friends.

Lots of lego building....

good times.

happiness is.....

watching my 3 year old glue glitter to wooden stars while humming.

letting my 8 month old learn to create and paint- but with pureed organic green beans- ya know, in case she eats any (she did).

having circle time and dancing....

cooking a brisket that fills the house with the scent of tomatoes, garlic, onions..... mmmmmmmmm......

living in a place that gives 78 degree january days.... and lots of lots of sun.

finishing up the last of 4 loads of laundry that were cast aside in the name of fun over the weekend.

drinking more lemonade, with rose hips and lavender today.

fresh eggs from a beautiful friend (even two greenish blue ones I havent yet decided if I will ever be able to crack open they are too pretty)

soooo...

im signing this today.... despite the fact that i have a 2 foot by 6 inch hole in the drywall of theh guest bath, and dirty base boards (and missing baseboards) and half painted walls and a cluttered office (that belongs to my hubby- i do not do clutter)...............

Im signing this because I believe it, but even when you know a truth, sometimes.... well sometimes its easy to get caught up in the "pretty perfect house syndrome".

if it all burned away, happiness would remain.

yours in peace,

jen

Domestic Rockstar

thats me!

i feel quite amazing at the moment.

We woke up, went hiking...took my rockstar worker man coffee & a snack since he was too busy for lunch.

grocery shopping.

crazy good burritos with rancher ground beef, roasted beets, quinoa, dollop sour cream on tortilla paired with a salad of spinach, romaine, parsley, radishes, raw sharp cheese mmmmmmmmmmmm.........

on the table. when the man came home [late]

read books, pretended to be an archer, discussed the heart, listened to ira's heart and taught her where to listen to mine... crawled around on floor, got "massage" by ira, danced to ska music & billie holiday, started a load of laundry, laughed til i cried with the family at a funny show.

nursed the elf to sleep while the man read even more books to the faerie.

both children asleep by 9!

watched eli stone with the man. uploading pics.

it does feel good to be a gangsta.

oh, and the man cleaned the kitchen harvested the grapefruit & lemon trees and brought the bamboo indoors- we are expecting a possible freeze tonight- crazy!

funny of the day-

"ira, would you like to learn to ride horses?"

"yes, but i want to wait until the yellow one is born-- mama- are horses born? do they make them in their bellies??"

i love her.
