Friday night, the moon was full and Jared had an event in the city to attend.
Not an hour after he leaves, I get the kids to sleep. I was just about to sit down to catch up on some knitting and a movie when-
Blackout!
I think "oh, our Christmas tree blew a fuse". I go and attempt to fix it. nothing is working.
I call Jared, he gives me the neighbors number and tells me to start the generator to see if that works.
That work and then the neighbor confirms the power outage.
By this time- all the kids are back awake and cranky.
After another hour of failed sleep induction- I decide to write out Christmas cards and let the kids watch a movie.
Full moon fouled my plans.

We made some hot cocoa and things calmed down.
After the kids fell back asleep- Jared was on his way home. Him and a friend started a fire. Within 30minutes every neighbor was around our fire- since everyone was still without power(and heat).

Saturday morning we woke up at 6 to see the lunar eclipse, but missed it! I guess I was reading mountain time :(
Good news was, we were up EARLY for a full day of sunshine!

Ira took a break from
Playing to sketch our neighbor- a surfer.

We went out for pizza- gluten free pizza from redbrick that is amazing.
While there, a Santa from a local church showed up and handed out candy canes.
It was funny to watch him talk to the girls as if they believed he WAS Santa. They do not necessarily believe in Santa- so I engaged Santa while everyone else at the table
Looked awkward.

Then they enjoyed their candy canes while we read them the pamphlet and waited for food.
This pizza place has flat screens at every booth! Kind if the smartest thing ever.
I may never go back though, because when we left, I was cleaning the booth and totally hit the light and shattered the bulb. Glass went everywhere....
Embarrassing.

Later that night we went to
Our awesome
Friends' house for dinner and a Christmas movie.
They have what is basically a small farm on their
Property, everything they made was straight from their own land....
Including this delicious RED popcorn!
They even sent us home with pasta sauce and popcorn.

Sunday- we drive everywhere from
Pacifica to San Jose getting craigslist items. I finally got some
Knitting done.
