Wrapping up the weekend right.....

Saturday morning we woke up here-

right smack dap on the brink of the ocean.....

we went outside to enjoy the view and do some oceanside hula hooping....

we hung out until about noon, then packed up and hit the road. We usually drive up the %, but its so depressing and sad to go passed all the factory farmed cows and the dry oil fields.... we chose to take the slightly more scenic route... the 101. The RV is a bit big for the 1! at least until we get a little more brave!

on sunday morning, Ira woke up with a craft bug in her.... she was the first to get sick, so she is pretty well all fixed up- now we are all sick!

a moustache...

a ring for mama...

a bracelet to match my ring...

a headband to match my bracelet and ring.... note my awesome bed head hair.

liv, despite her not feeling well, decided that while daddy was unloading our van, she was going to dig....

and she found her first earthworm!!!

she scooped it up and chased her siblings with it.

love it.

jared made us all gluten free and egg free cornbread. it was so delicious, he could sell it.

we ran to target and to the laundromat to wash bulky blankets after the trip. it was a taxing trip with half of us being sick. The littles insisted on going, though. we medicated with pumpkin spice latte for mama and cookies for all.

Monday

This morning started off calm....

There was rearrangement of faerie and gnome paraphernalia...

Liv made jack and the beanstalk out of clay....

Ira made me a baby ostrich in all my favorite colors....

Liv was working hard at kneading the clay-

Ira made a sparkly turtle and some jewels...

And a Lego container to lock up an evil spider in. When she told me this I made a face- and she said "don't worry- it's a plastic Lego Spider"

Then we got a call saying "pack up, we are going to Vegas......"

On the road again!

In honor and memorial...

Of all the Tucson shooting victims.

We drove to Tucson for a funeral, to pay respects, show support, and join in the Tucson community organized human barricade love. The human barricade was not needed, but the community showed up strong for the family and loved ones.

As a politically active supporter of Gabby Giffords, I would have jumped at the opportunity to take my children to meet her. This tragedy hit too close to home.

The kids made this at the memorial...it is a smiling sun...

The family asked for no picture taking or media. It was very sad to see that in the midst of a very respectful, quiet, show of love and support- the media was very present and disrespectful to the family.

Redlands- coffee bean & tea leaf...

Much needed rest area....

We made it to Phoenix just in time to listen to President Obama's memorial on NPR - we pushed through to Tucson and watched it 3 more times before bed. It was a much needed much appreciated memorial.

August 1st

Today is the first day of the last full month of summer. The midpoint between the summer solstice and the autumnal equinox... Where crops are harvested and baking starts and people start prepping for fall... At least in some parts of the country.... Never anywhere we live :)

Still, we thought we would got to the farmers market but missed it- which is just as well since it would probably make us sad about STILL not having a kitchen.

So we went to trader joes and jamba juice....

Popsicles...

A house for kitty waggers...

Fort building.... It's always awesome to see how much a simple fort inspires children.... Hours. Hours of play.

Then we lot our candle

And I read Ira two chapters of nostradormouse....

Then Ira read/listened to/played the miss spider app.

Then liv watched some caillou

And this tired mama bounced and rocked and hummed and sang and walked and bounce and sang this exhausted boy to sleep while daddy finished up his last assignment of the semester...

One week off and it's the start of a new job/ new semester!
Let's hope we have a place by then:)

Emers

I've been asked for more emers pictures, so here they are and you will see why there aren't more-

He is ALWAYS moving! Way too fast for my outdated camera!!!

These pictures were the absolute best of the best, and they are not very good. I really need the iphone4 :)

Emers is crawling, pulling himself to a stand and trying to cruise around on furniture. I put cushions on the ground for him to climb and he loves it.

Here he is with liv...

Again at the cooler....

Him trying to stand while crawling...

He really wants that ice!!

Smiles, I was holding the coveted remote behind my head trying to get him to sit still for three seconds...

He makes a baaaaaa noise and moves his fist against his lips to makes a bah bah bah bah noise like Jared taught him one night while I tried to get olive to sleep. It's his 'sign' that he is frustrated. As soon as he gets stuck or angry he starts to do it- like an alert to us he is going to cry soon.

This is his still angry face.

Happiness...
