Spring in Arizona

Is beauuuuuutiful
8am and already sandbox weather

We wanted to go on a hike to see some wildflowers.. But jareds busy painting and hiking with three kids under 5 alone sounds like a lot of work. I'd probably end up wearing two and carrying the other:)

So we grabbed our old dog and went on a neighbourhood hike to seek out some wildflowers here....

The following pics are ira's- she said she was going to photograph everything interesting about our meighbourhood so that she will remember it when we move-

By the end of the walk Jubei the old dog was exhausted....

Time is flying!!!!!

There has been so much! We are STILL prepping the house for sale. It's a slow slow process when one adult has a baby in arms all day with two ACTIVE kids. Poor jared has been up til the wee hours everynight.

We went to the park twice last week. So beautiful out. Ira was so excited to see friends. As was I.

Ira is back into watching her egyptian documentaries. She is fascinated. Cannot get enough information about ancient Egypt. When we were on Denver we visited a Egyptologist docent at the natural history museum- she was shocked at how much my 4 year old knew.... She retains it all so quickly too. Better than I, for sure.

We've also been back to bat watching at night. There seems to be quite a large "nest" in our immediate neighbourhood. Our street fills up with bats at dusk.

Some pics

Liv holding Emers. She is constantly saying, "I hold the baby now"

Ira the snow bird.......

Emers is waaaaay into his hands at the moment.....

Sweet girl loves food

Liv and I had red calypso beans and kombucha for breakfast.

She said "picture my beans mama?"

Then she said "no picture my BUCHA!" haha! Look at that face!

Another recipe

You will love me for....

We bought these bars at whole foods, but once we took a bite, we knew we could make them.

8 oz pitted dates pureed
4 oz medium shred shreddd coconut.

Easiest process ever, roll the sticky sticky dates into a log (tastes best- the ball shape leave more date bites without coconut)

Roll log in coconut!

The whole foods on had a slivered almond pressed in. I bought raw cashews to press in, but they didn't last long enough.

dairy free followers

i bring to you- heaven!

try it- youll love it

Both adapted from recipes from choosingraw.com and sunny raw kitchen.

Cashew cream
Soak cashews for a really long time. 2 hours minimum, preferably over 4 hours. This makes a smoother cream...

Drain and rinse cashews and add to processor. I do about two cups...
Then drizzle in agave or two or three soaked pitted dates.
Vanilla extract to taste and then drizzle in water until at desired consistency. Which for this was a cool whip type texture.

For my sour cream/ Alfredo / heavy cream replacement I did the same soaking to the cashews then added to processor with 2 tsp sea salt, pinch nutmeg and squeeze lemon juice.
More nutmeg for Alfredo
More lemon for sour cream
Less lemon and less nutmeg for heavy cream.

Liv!

Dressed herself today! She's growing so fast! She even kinda matched!

Here she is from last night- she climbed into the doll stroller with all her babies!

Family kitchen time

We made bread and then mushroom and onion stroganoff.
Ira and liv destemmed and brushed the mushrooms clean, Jared chopped, and I cooked.

Th girls also helped me measure and add together the ingredients into the bread machine for our gluten free bread. More on those recipes later when I'm on my laptop.

She missed her baby...

We forgot liv's baby doll. We weren't home an hour before she was nursing, slinging and kissing her baby

I find it particularly hilarious that she uses the sling like a wrap AND that she has a cellphone in her hands!
