today was a hot hot day
we live in the desert.
I should more than be capable of handling 105 degree afternoons.... but- well, with being pregnant I am just NOT.
Today we did yard work for the third day in a row. It takes that many days when its this hot. ;)
ira washed the windows- with a mop and bucket- her idea ;)
we played in the water.
made a fairy apartment structure, surrounded our dying/dead tree that refuses a chainsaw with pottery and fairy houses..... we will plant the flowers later....
played in the water.
laid out patio paver steps.
played in the water.
rearranged play structures & other play equipment.
played in water ;)
it is hot here. very. very. hot.

more reading fun!
our current list from the library is pretty good.... we randomly grab at things and lately its been leaving much to be desired ;)
this past weeks trip was much better so I thought I would share.....
and for liv's personal favourite....
she just LOOOOVES to pat each page.... she brings the book to me every story time.

book club
we joined a book club at a local toy shop- you are supposed to read a book, do a craft or draw a picture about the book & bring it in for a stamp... after so many stamps you get prizes/free passes, free gelato, etc.
we keep forgetting to go in for the stamps... but here is a snippet of the latest drawings!
Ostrich Ranch
We stopped at the ostrich ranch that is half way between phoenix and tucson..... oh my goodness was it hilarious and fun!
We fed ostrich, deer, donkeys, and rainbow lorikeets!
Then, we rode on a HUGE, monster truck! The ride took us all over the ranch property and explained what exactly ostrich ranches do. Like, for instance, did you know that a grown adult human can stand and jump on an ostrich egg? its that strong!!!
It was very fun, very informative and well ran. We always said we would stop there and then would forget! I am so glad we finally did it.
here is a link to the ranch!
dinosaur bones
Ira is quite interested in dinosaurs right now.... she wants to know EVERYTHING....
we found a great kids museum in phoenix that had a nice selection so we made a mini-vacation of it and stayed the whole weekend.
The resort we stayed at was beautiful, the pools were lovely in this unforgiving heat!!!!
All in all it was a good trip- but as always- was way too short!

RACE FOR THE CURE
Last sunday, we walked the 5K race for the cure in memory of jared's mother... a survivor of breast cancer, who unfortunately passed away to another illness years ago.
We have never walked before, but this year a close family friend was diagnosed and it shook us all up. My husband quit smoking and we wanted to commemorate and celebrate and donate and have it become a yearly thing we do as a family to fight this disease and support the women and families it affects.
It was a touching, emotional day... I would be a liar if I said I didnt cry the ENTIRE time. I was so puffy from tears of sadness, laughter and joy- that when I got home- I didnt even look like myself.
We also ended up walking an additional mile and a half to the car afterwards instead of taking the shuttle- so we were physically exhausted as well... it was such an overwhelming experience- I am eternally touched by it.
Jared and Ira starting off the walk strong.......

This is Ira with her crystal tree
She look less than enthused... and thats the furthest thing from the truth. She was ENTHRALLED. All night she checked on that thing every 20 minutes... it was fun to watch her as she examined the progress. It is now hidden away from our cats in the cupboard.
Park and Game Day
We spent the afternoon playing in the shade at a park.... then spent the evening playing the Very Hungry Caterpillar Game

wowza
so it has been just about 11 months since I gave birth to liv.... ira will be FOUR in just 3 1/2 months and I am inching my way to 29.
Everyday I look at these two girls and wonder how on earth I got so very lucky to be able to spend my days with them. Everyday.
I am just in awe.
We are busy folks. busy. blessed.
I feel like my online time is diminished in exact proportion to the increasing daylight and subsequent heat.
