art daze

we spent the day indoors yesterday.

it was hot outside.

super hot.


and for us, we are used to 50-65 degrees. with 65 being way higher than usual.

it was 82 degrees!

on monday, it was similarly hot and we spent the day out side playing and we played outside into the night.

but it wore them out.


when they realized it was hot again, they asked to paint.


so we all did some painting and it turned into 5 hours straight of painting, pastels, drawing, sketching, etc...

perfect sunday....

it started with pumpkin smoothies...


there were eucalyptus groves and redwoods and beautiful autumn colored forests.... but i forgot to take any pictures, save this ONE as we pulled out of the eucalyptus...


we went shopping and got new shoes, we went and bot pizza with TWO beautiful and awesome friends (and i forgot to take pictures of that too)


then we came home and FINALLY finished this book. It was 80+ pages of icelandic horses and their history as the "bridges of iceland"... it was fascinating at times, but since it is told from the perspective of the horse- which is great for the kids- they enjoy that- it was a little thick in some spots.... i had a hard time not skipping ahead by pages at certain points....


and then there was more cleaning of the toys....

michaelmas and a full moon

we read a few books and some of my favourite poems....

including poe, whitman and shakespeare...


then we had a full moon fire...

roasted some marshmallows...

its friday!!!!

we had an insurance adjuster coming out to assess the water damage and hot water tank [explosion]....

i took a bunch of pictures of the RV and this one of the fridge makes me especially happy...

the kids were more than a little excited to have daddy home on a friday morning...









while the inspector was here, we went on a long walk...









and then jared had to go to work, so we planned on dropping him off and heading to the park...

but the brakes in our van had a different plan and we ended up stranded at Firestone for close to 4 hours [maybe more]


they had a tv... so we learned all about squid and octopi


and i travel stoked so we had art supplies and ipads...



and look who is getting freckles on his little adorable face?!

autumn and turning inward

as the days get shorter and the sun shines at that special angle that makes everything look magic...


we have been taking time to really enjoy our days.

i have been feeling sick and must have gotten a virus... so we are taking it extra slow.



lots and lots of tea...


lots of acorn squash...


more tea....


and tons of snuggles.... this is keira showing cedric how to play a game... he climbed up on her lap and she said "what does he think? that i am a grown up?" and then she hugged him. :)

good day for a hike....

it was temperate this morning... we decided to go on a little hike and see what we could find....


it was mostly a lot of falling eucalyptus leaves...



PURPLE MUSHROOMS





climbed some trees...

played a round of tag...






found some teeeny tiny treasures....
played at the park...

another beautiful fall day...

when i say the beauty of the area we live in never gets old.... i mean it.


we went on another little nature walk....


cedric the panda brought his scooter....


we did the "yeti stomp" passed the horses.... i do not really know why- but the kids do it everytime we venture out near them...


and into the forest we charged....
